Convex, running where you say
Convex is the backend where the database, server functions and realtime subscriptions are one system — your frontend re-renders when data changes, automatically. The open-source backend runs here as your own instance: same developer experience, flat price.

Why host Convex here
The whole backend in one box
Database, functions, scheduling and live queries in a single self-hosted service your app points at.
Flat cost, unmetered
The cloud version meters function calls and bandwidth; your instance charges neither.
Realtime by default
Subscriptions push changes to clients instantly — the framework's signature feature, self-hosted intact.
Standard Convex tooling
Develop with the same convex CLI and client libraries — just aimed at your own deployment URL.
Convex hosting FAQ
Is self-hosted Convex the same as the cloud version?
It's the same open-source backend that powers the cloud service. You trade the hosted dashboard conveniences for a flat price and full control; the client SDKs and CLI work the same.
How do I point my app at it?
Set your deployment URL (your instance's HTTPS address) in the Convex client and deploy functions with the CLI against it — details come with the template.
What size does it need?
2 GB RAM is the sensible default the template ships with — the backend bundles several services. Resize as your app's traffic grows.
